Dopravně informační řídicí centrum České Budějovice

Traffic Information Control Centre České Budějovice

The complex project, commissioned by the City of České Budějovice, included the construction of a single traffic information and control centre for the city. As the general contractor, VARS BRNO provided the construction works, delivery of infrastructure, including a server room, consolidation of separate control centres into one, and delivery of a control system based on the SMARTiC platform.

The new information and control centre brought together three formerly separate dispatching centres—the transport company dispatching centre, the energy dispatching centre for trolleybus transport and the transport information and control centre. The consolidated workplace is located in the building of the Transport Company České Budějovice.

As part of the project, it was necessary to demolish the entire floor of the original building and then to build the workplace itself and its complete infrastructure, including a server room, a backup unit, security systems and other equipment. The dispatching workplace is ready for up to four employees in one shift—three dispatchers for traffic and energy dispatching and a fourth dispatcher for the municipal police. The traffic information control centre is based on the SMARTiC platform developed by VARS BRNO.

In České Budějovice, a new generation of the system was implemented for the first time, which allows for its easier expansion with additional data sources—traffic detectors, monitored vehicles, etc. The system provides comprehensive monitoring of the traffic situation in the city and represents an effective tool for real-time traffic management and predicting traffic situations.

Based on the FCD data and other sensors connected to the control system, the delivered solution can predict risky traffic situations, model traffic control scenarios and actively suggest to the controller adjustments to the signal plans in the controllers at intersections.
